Grinding Noise

Grinding Noise
Under high torque I get a grinding noise coming from the powertrain in my 94 F-250 4x4 351 5 speed. Just driving around town I do not get a noise. But, if I'm on a hill and give it plenty of gas or pulling a heavy trailer and getting going I hear the grinding noise until there is not much torque to the wheels.
The grinding noise sounds like spider gears or splines grinding. It does it in 2 wheel drive. There is no play in my drive shaft and it looks like it is a one piece drive shaft. Also, there is no play in my wheels. No junk in the rear end. It looks like my rear end is a Ford 10.25.
Is this a transmission issue? Could the rear end be going bad? Where should I go from here?

It has about 2,000 miles on it. The guy that owned it before me replaced it. When it idles it will randomly make a whirring noise. I have been told it is the throw out bearing, but I don't know. This is a different noise than the grinding.
