Help Needed 1994 Ford F Super Duty 460

Anyone feel like doing a little drilling???

Bought some Kroil and drill bits today, going to be a long few nights. The advantage I have is the cab is removed for a swap over and the motor is going to be lifted out tonight just for drilling purposes.

Are you sure you wouldn't be better off, getting another cylinder head? Especially with that many bolts broken off! In any case, best of luck to you! Dale

Ground the studs down flush with the head. Placed the manifold back on and bolted it up tight. Used a 1/2" drill bit which is the same diameter as the bolt holes in the manifold. Drilled just long enough to create my center point. Removed the manifold and started drilling it a Irwin 1/8" cobalt bit. Drilled until I thought I was deep enough by measuring off a hole that didn't have a broken bolt. Used a 1/4" cobalt bit and drilled again to the same depth. Went to a left handed 5/16" bit and drilled for a little bit with nothing moving. Switched to a 5/16" regular bit and drill for a short time until the bit caught and stopped. I switched back to the left handed bit and what was left of the stud back right out. Took a total of four bits two in the 1/8" and two in the 1/4" and about three hours including trip to town to get new bits. Maybe I just got lucky.
