Kickdown lever from c6 transmission

I bought a 73 f100 it has a newer 302 h.o motor in it has a c6 trans and a edelbrock carb, theres no kickdown lever from the trans to the carb,i can see on the side of the trans were one would go but its not there.

The truck runs fine but when i floor it it dont seem like it drops down and takes off it dont respond like it should with the newer h.o 302 the edelbrock 600 4bbl and the offie intake.

also the truck seems like the 4bbl only runs on the front 2bbl what makes the back bbl on the carb come on?

You need to have a kickdown rod to have the transmission shift properly. The truck will run fine without one but you wont get that extra power when you're trying to pass someone.

Also, as far as the car goes, you won't see the secondaries open on a vacuum secondary carb when you just blip the throttle from idle. The secondaries are vacuum operated, they'll only open when there's flow to produce enough venturi vacuum to open them.

There are ports in all 4 barrels. What you're seeing n the primaries are probably really the accelerator pump nozzles. There aren't those in the secondaries.

Best of luck!

So all I really need to do is make a bracket that pulls the lever on the trans when the throttle wide open right?

LOKAR may make a kick-down cable for that application. They are reasonably priced, and work well.

That should be an easy find at the junkyard. When I bought my truck it had the linkage rod but was missing the u-shaped lever that attaches to the transmission. I found a replacement at the junkyard and there were plenty of the linkage rods as well.

I always just pulled the transmission shifter down to 2nd and then shifted to D when it needed to. Never did extend my kickdown lever when I went to 460. The holley did not have the lever attached that it needed.

Ok ill keep that in mind, my concern was if something would break or fail if I had no kickdown lever....also I am looking to upgrade intake and caeburetor

On the C6 if you don't have the kickdown lever hooked up, all you lose is the kickdown function.
Unlike some other transmissions that use the kickdown linkage to also adjust the line pressure, the C6 is only for kickdown.
Bottom line, no damage to the tranny running without it.
