Anyone have pics running LED's in the stock exterior lamp housings?
Anybody have LED replacement "bulbs" for their running/turn/brake lights, front or rear? If so let's see some pics. I'm wanting to switch over to LED's all the way around and after searching, don't see anything worth a damn. So, not being the kinda guy to give up easily, I'll either buy some LED drop-ins (depending how they look) or just make my own LED boards with a couple inputs for controlling brightness.

It went well! I used replacement drop-in bulbs for everything except the taillights. For those I decided to install the guts from these:
One Pair Submersible Trailer LED Lights
which worked out fine but I did it the quick and dirty way and just cut out the back of the housings and used JB Weld to secure the LED board from the taillights. Hack job, I know... that was an experiment and I have new housings waiting to be modified correctly. or I might just use drop-in LED's like I did the rest of the truck this time around. Not sure yet.
Other than that, one of my LED headlights failed. Sent them back under warranty... we'll see what happens. Unfortunately it seems like some other people are having the same problem with that brand only lasting 6 months to a year. Might have to try something else if they come back and end up failing again.
I can take some pics... I'm fixin to leave work right now and might not be able to til Monday though as I only have my phone to get online right now and the mobile layout of this site don't work for me... and I ain't too sure the "regular" version will allow me to post pics when viewed from a phone.

Awesome.
No problem, and thanks for the quick reply. I might try the JB weld route on the tails, since I don't want to pay for a custom tail light rig. Were there any lists you were able to find to know what replaces what, or did you just pull each bulb and find the correct replacement LED online? Or are most all of them the same bulb anyway? I have an '88 F350 longbed, and I'm trying to ask if I could use the same bulbs for the running lights as you did, I guess. I already changed out the dash lights with 194s, and that is working out well.

IIRC my truck uses 3157 for the front and rear turn/tail lights, 194's for the front marker lights. Headlights are 9007. License plate lights I have no idea because I just replaced them with these instead, but beware they DO NOT fit in the stock bumper holes. They're smaller than the stock lights so you'll have to do some customizing. I just fired up my welder and grinder and made the holes smaller.
My cab lights are all LED too. Ain't a single incan bulb left in the whole truck except for my headlights which are back to crappy halogen for now since my LED's are out for warranty.

Great info
Thanks for that website. superbright LEDs is awesome! looks like they sell some real quality lamps. Stoked about the 45-smd reverse light. I should finally be able to see what I'm backing in to through the tint on my camper shell! Also, is that website where you got your headlights?

My headlights are from here which are their older models. They have a newer version out that's supposedly brighter but what most people don't know is that in order for a light source to appear twice as bright, it actually needs to emit something like FOUR times more lumens.
Here's my thread on them: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...onversion.html
