Ford Edge Sport 3.7L front wheel drive Vs Ford Edge AWD

The Sport model is only available with the slightly larger 3.7L motor.
The AWD is about $2,000 (MSRP) more than the FWD. It will require additional maintenance during its lifetime. And, there are a few more mechanical components to suffer wear & tear. So, an AWD is going to cost a bit more all of the way around.

- Do you go up to the mountains to go skiing, snow shoeing, etc.?
- Do you drive out onto any of the beaches--surfing, wind boarding, etc.?
- Yes ==> I would get the AWD (All Wheel Drive).
- No ==> I see no reason for you to pay extra for an AWD.

AWD is an interesting obsession in my opinion
I live above the Mason Dixon line in PA so just about everyone who lives up here (irregardless of the fact that we get so little snow) are completely convinced of the need for 4wd or AWD on everything
This is something that you have to think about when it comes for time to resell your car
if you live above the line you are going to get less money on trade or have a harder time selling the car if you get a model that has AWD as an option but you dont have it
To elaborate a great example is a 2wd pickup
in most parts of the country its normal, up here in the north its unheard of
its also about you
if you want the security of AWD than the 2000 premium might be worth it for you
you need to decide thats my throw in on it
