2000 E-250 w/5.4l oil dipstick tube replacement

2000 E-250 w/5.4l oil dipstick tube replacement
has anyone attempted to replace their oil dipstick tube on an E-250 with a 5.4l engine? It appears that I may need to remove the oil filter / heat exchanger in order to get to the remaining part that goes into the engine and oil pan. any replies would be welcome.
