What Replaced MERCON?

I've got a 2000 F250 Super Duty w/ V10 and Auto trans. My understanding is that MERCON is no longer availabe. It's due for a fluid and filter change and flush. The owner's manual stated that ONLY MERCON was to be used. If it's no longer around, what do you replace it with? If I had a Ford dealer here, I wouldn't be worried. I want to make sure that the shop I take it to knows what is supposed to go into it. Thanks for any help.

I have trouble finding Mercon V, even the big Walmart stores only have about 8 quarts at the most when it isn't sold out.

Actually, you're not getting Dexron III/Mercon since neither Ford nor GM license production of fluids with those names any longer.

You are, however, getting a fluid that its manufacturer says will meet the specifications of Dexron III/Mercon. See the difference?

Mercon V stands by itself as far as I know, and hard to find.

If you can't find it, you haven't looked very much.

Mercon V in a tranny that doesn't need it is a waste of money..If your tranny needs it you have to use it. There is little benefit from using it if its not called for.
