I've got a 2000 F250 Super Duty w/ V10 and Auto trans. My understanding is that MERCON is no longer availabe. It's due for a fluid and filter change and flush. The owner's manual stated that ONLY MERCON was to be used. If it's no longer around, what do you replace it with? If I had a Ford dealer here, I wouldn't be worried. I want to make sure that the shop I take it to knows what is supposed to go into it. Thanks for any help.
You can get mercon all day long thats the regular trans fluid that most folks use...You can use that or mercon V now...I still use the old stuff dextron/ mercon stuff in mine and no problems.
Mercon V in a tranny that doesn't need it is a waste of money..If your tranny needs it you have to use it. There is little benefit from using it if its not called for.
