DOES ANY ONE HAVE?
I was just wondering if anyone on here could share some pictures of their interior where they have installed a carpet kit. I would like to know where they got it from and how long it took. I really appreciate any info and pics. Hopefully some one has a 54' that they can show me.
Thanks

Are you looking at a specific brand of kit or just looking for ideas? There are 3 main types of carpets kits out there - sewn carpets, molded carpets and plain universal carpets. I have mostly installed molded carpet kits that have the jute backing applied and molded for the transmission cover. Sewn carpets are more expensive typically but give a little nice custom look. I don't have any detailed photos of my carpet installs uploaded but will see what I can find on the disc.

Honestly I am looking for something that is not too difficult to install. I have a 54" f100 and its a 3 speed on the floor. I was looking for something short like the cut pile style and also looking for the matching stuff for the kick panels and up around behind the seat. Molded seems to look nice. On page 16 of the Mid-Fifty catalog, it has an entire kit you can buy that covers EVERYTHING. So I am just not sure of what to go with.

Love the patina!

Don't let the stock photos fool ya. It is a nice carpet, great padding, good color/style selection. They say it is custom molded to the floor pan, I would say it is more "semi-custom". I have bought many carpets from them and been happy. I go with the 80/20 loop for a shorter pile. Couple of key things to keep in mind though if you go this route. The edges are unfinished on the molded carpets. I finished mine out with aluminum carpet trim pieces or you could have someone sew edging on or hotmelt. I always ask them to leave the firewall and rear wall edges as long as they can so I can cover/cut off what I need too. There is not a cutout for the floor access points (battery, gas, brake cover, etc.) There are no cutouts for the floor shift, brake pedal, clutch, etc. Again, it will work, just have to spend some time at it. I ordered extra carpet to match for anything that I wanted to trim out (kick panels, etc.) One other things, regardless, make sure you always do your cut out in an "X" pattern or use a hot tip (like a solder tip) to make holes in the carpet especially when running a drill bit through. Otherwise the drill bit will help unravel the carpet. Not good.
As for the set that Mid50 sells, I believe you still have to cut out some holes, etc. One reason I don't like some of their carpets is because it is cutout for stock seating and I need full coverage because I am running custom seats, etc. For the price difference and color selection, I go the stock interior route.
