Installing firestone air bags and compressor in my 2012 f350 lariet, where is the best place to locate the compressor? someone told me there is room behind the headlight assembly, anyone hear of this?

 

On my 08 Short Bed I have it located just to the front of the fuel tank. There is a bracket there. While I know there is a different design 2011 and up that may give you some ideas.

 

Most of the installs I have seen put the compressor and tank on the outboard side of the frame rail. One slick setup used a marine battery cover as a box to keep road debris off of the compressor.

 

mount it ON THE FRAME. A family member had it mounted on the body up under neath. It was on the driver side, about mid cab. That thing got annoying when it kicked on. the harmonics would drone through the cab. I removed the whole system when he decided to lower the truck.

I think I have seen a mounting plate for accessories where its basically wide U-bolts that go around the frame to mount a flat piece of sheet metal. I don't know if it was custom made or manufactured but it looks really clean. If you want to get real custom, I would build an enclosure or have a plastic cover molded to keep it out of the elements.

 

That's where mines been for 2 1/2 yrs. No troubles.
