no low end power, what gives!?

i know a 5.4 doesn't have the grunt as a diesel would have or a V10 for that matter but something has got to be wrong with my truck! Even when i bought the truck brand new it was always gutless from a dead stop, after the years Ive done upgrades(see sig). Lately it feels very weak down low in the power band, driving to work today i was stuck behind some idiot making a left hand turn and the guy waited for ever single car/truck before he even moved, even though he could have made a left with a semi if he wanted a few times. Anyways waited for the ENTIRE green light the it turned to amber and the guy FINALLY makes a left so being me i stomp on the go pedal...... now let me set the mood, rained ALL night it just stopped around 730 this morning. Its now 8am my truck completely warmed up sitting on a soaked intersection running 4.30 gears and skinny 255/85r16 BFG KM2 tires, sitting still i stomp on her ONLY the drivers tire spins for less than a foot and stops and the trucks just goes. Maybe because the tires are brand new but come on! even when its dry out and i stomp on the old girl see cant even chirp tires from a dead stop like she use to be able too! I have a 77 F150 with 4" lift and 35's and the stock gears and i can light them tires on with just a little brake control at any stop light. Other than the 5.4 being weak down low could there be a BIGGER issue with my truck?

this is the best evidence i can get, same truck as mine year body etc and notice how when he first starts to do a burnout the truck barely has the power to turn the tires? My truck makes that no power sound also when i use to try and do burnouts. It was actually embarrassing when i would try and the truck wouldn't do one, then i grew up and just stopped trying to do them. Now I'm just sick of the gutless no low end power and i really feel something is wrong with my ol girl.....

You might check into a tuner that can reduce or remove the torque control feature. Ford softens the engine quite a bit with timing for user experience with takeoff and shifts. The other impact I have seen is with inlet air temp. High readings will reduce power so I get modified as well.

to give an idea, you can go from 3.55 gear to a 4.56 without changing the spedo it will accelerate the same.... Changing the spedo will bring it up, but sont really show the big jump until the torque control is removed.

As for the OP, is this something new? How many miles are o the truck? When was it last tuned up?

OP says it was since new. I suggested a different tuner as I know the superchips does not address the limits I talked of and the 5.4 makes decent torque when that is not pulling back the motor.

One thing to consider is the weight. My 1995 F-150 tipped the scale at 5000 pounds, with me and one tank of fuel. My Super Duty weighs around 7400 pounds.

Cuz if you get a diesel then you wont be able to tell if the tires are smoking or its noxious diesel smoke pouring out of the tailpipe.........

He had an SCT with 5 star tuning and did not like it...my 5.4 is the same way...will barely chirp them if i punch it from a takeoff...but it will light them both up if the road is wet

That's not a lot of motor pushing a whole lot of truck. Your experience sounds about right to me.

Remember that none of these trucks were ever designed to roast the tires. My V10 Excursion with 4.30s won't spin the tires from a standing start, but it tows 10,000+ lbs with authority.

The low end power from a stop sucks on my truck too, but that's just the way it is. When I punch it from around 20 mph she pulls pretty damn hard though.

In my opinion 1st gear SUCKS. Once it gets into 2nd it starts to really pull.

And when the road is wet I can get the truck sideways

This is the only time I will agree with this statement. You complain more about your trucks power, build quality, etc..., than anyone I know. . It's a 5.4, a 2V at that, and most know they don't create seat of your pants feel. Save your bucks, sell your truck, and get what you need to feel better about your truck. Acf6 got tired of his and got rid of it and he seems happier now.

The reality of it is that is just a truck, not an extension of you. You live once and if having a big power truck is important to you go find it. Seriously, life is way too short to be pissed off at a truck. So you put money into it. You'll never get that back when selling anyways. Again life is way too short.
