2010 F150 xlt 4x4 supercab what are the best and worst performance upgrades??
I just bought a 2010 F150 supercab xlt 4x4 with the 5.4 and just wondering what are the best performance upgrades and which ones to avoid?? I plan on buying a programmer like the edge evolution I had in my 99 with the 5.4 to start off with because that was the best upgrade besides the e-fans on my last truck! I also had headers , dual exhaust, cold air intake, electric fans, performance coil packs, underdrive pulleys and 75mm throtle body and my hp and mpg both improved! when I bought my 99 it was only getting around 9 mpg before I did any upgrades it had a bone stock 5.4 but it had a 6 inch suspension lift and 35" tires and 190,000 miles on it! I bought the edge evo programmer for it and it gives instant mpg on the display so I tested it before and after the tune on the highway with the cruise on 65mph on the same road and my stock tune I was getting 9mpg then I programmed the 2nd performance tune for 87octane / towing tune and did the same test and I was getting 13mpg! after all my other upgrades I was able to hit 16-17 mpg on the same tests! The 75mm throttle body made the mpg worse so I removed that and the underdrive pulleys didn't do much either!

I would go with an sct vs an edge for the 2010. Sct is able to re-cal the shift points and timing in the transmission. Im not sure if edge is able to do that yet with the 2009 up models. An intake and exhaust will help also to go along with a tune. Buddy of mine did shorty headers on his 09 and he said he really liked them.
