Exclamation Coil is screaming hot why??!?!!!??

Ok I installed a flame thrower petronix coil with 1.5 ohms and I'm not running a ballast resistor but when the ignition is on and not running the coil gets burning hot. What do I do?

With carbed vehicles it isn't good to leave the key in the on position without it running as it will kill coils by over heating it. Either start the vehicle or if your running a radio, fan etc make it run off the accessory part of the switch. Simplist fix is to not leave it in the on position.

hot coil

Chances are that when you had the key on but not running the points were closed--that will make t hot--as stated before -start it or if you leave the key on not running unhook hot feed to coil, futher more put a toggle switch on it and hide it under dash as a anti-theft devise
