What's this air regulator valve for?

We bought a used 2000 Excursion 7.3 a year or so ago. I'm curious what this aftermarket air pressure regulator is for.

(ignore the missing oil filler cap, I was in the middle of changing the oil when I snapped this pic!)

Thanks!

I even uploaded pics! Surely somebody knows the purpose of the pressure regulator.

Thanks in advance!

It is not factory, that is for sure. Pretty odd.

Can't say for sure because I can't see where everything is hooked up, but it's in the right spot for what looks like a home brew overboost code fooler.

Here are two examples.

Riffraff Diesel: OCR - Overboost Code Regulator

Driven Diesel Overboost Annihilator

Looks like a homemade boost fooler to me also. Is/was the truck chipped?

Why don't you have pics of the ends of the hoses? That's like showing a picture of a middle of a pipe and saying; what is this to?

Because the bracket doesn't fit the Excursion due to the rear AC lines. It has to be modified to work.

Could it be for onboard air compressor?

I had a buddy that put an air compressor pump where the A/C compressor went on a 98 Blazer. He built a bumper that was an air tank. It was pretty slick!

I would have to say it is a Diesel flux capacitor! Boost hits 88 PSI and you jump to the future!

Show us where it begins and ends!!!

I'm gonna go with boost fooler as well. I would remove it and put a strait line in its place.

Thanks!
I am beginning to think nothing fits an excursion. It seems as if, its for a F250/350 it probably CAN be made to fit the excursion. It brings out the tinkerer in us!

EXv10, I tried to get both ends of the host. In the second photo, you can see the clamp at the far end of the red hose where it connects to something up on top of the engine. In the first photo, the left side of the red hose, where it 'disappears' in the photo, is where the hose actually ends and connects to the black plastic thing. I assume the black thing is a pressure sensor of some sort.

I bet you guys are right. It's probably just there to regulate the boost to the sensor.

Thanks!
