Micah's 1994 F-150 build thread

I couldn't wait any longer! I fired up the stove in the shop tonight and installed my new kicker 6x8s and kicker 6 1/2 speakers. It sounds so much better now. I had pretty much only one functional speaker before.
I love how easy the install was on these, I would recommend however that if anyone buys these to also buy the factory plug adapter. Rather than striping the wires like i did. Oh well live and learn
Next on the list is a small sub just to add a little bass.
Hopefully this week I will start in on the toolbox. Gotta strip the paint off and breathe some new life into it.

I just bought some new Pioneer 6 1/2s for the doors, but where do the bigger speakers go????

The rear speakers were only in 92-96 trucks and I believe not all got them.
I have yet to see a 87-91 with rear speakers stock. On our 90 I just put them behind the seat a little under the seat so they don't get broken. Mine were stock ranger rear speakers I believe 6x8s.

Or did Ford make a special (plastic?) speaker box that somehow fits into the cab behind the seats.
Ditto on the kudos to Micah. Nice truck!

My 95 parts truck has it but I don't think my 92 F250 has it (I plan to use those panels in my 92 when I do the cab swap).
Only some extended cabs have rear speakers in 87-91s never seen it in a regular cab stock. .

Micah, my apologies for hijacking your thread.
Thanks, Trav. I looked at mine tonight and am guessing the speaker cutouts are down near the floor on the trucks that had them. I have a plastic panel that covers the seat belt retractor mechanism and looks like it might have enough room for a large speaker in there.
Would really appreciate a pic. Sorry to hear about your medical issue, but glad to know you're getting the care you need.
I'm starting to lean towards a subwoofer box, something cheap. Just installed some lower end Pioner 6 1/2" speakers in the doors. Big improvement, but still pretty disappointing. The 6 x 8 inchers might work too. Would definitely be cheaper than the subwoofer.
Thanks to all. - AJ
The 92-96 trucks that have them have cutouts in the plastic behind the seat belt that bolt to the cab.

Are those the same lights in the Amazon link you sent prior? They look GREAT! I'm seriously considering doing that to mine now!

Here is the link for those lights. Sorry I thought I had posted the link before.
They are incredible lights. Super bright and look good too lol. One tip of advice is make sure you have good cut off wheels for a dremel tool as well. You can start the cuts with an angle grinder but have to finish them off with the dremel. Also you will need a good drill bit for metal, I am pretty sure I used a 1/4in bit
