convex mirrors

I'm looking @ putting some convex mirrors onto my current door mirrors and have seen trucks with them on the inside of the mirror and on the far outside of the mirror.. Any input as far as putting them on the inside or outside of the mirrors? I am doing this simply for more view of who is beside me as well as towing and hauling trees etc and sometimes I can be pretty full..

Upper outside as this way you still see the vehicles sides on the inside, and the bumper and road on the lower part of the mirror.

Ford makes their new mirrors with a convex piece on the upper outside as well. Seems like the right spot to me.
