98 ranger 2wd- larger brakes?

Ok I am close to being finished with my 98 ranger IFS swap onto my 49 F1 chassis. Here is a link if you are curious. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1239744-98-ranger-ifs-swap.html

I have the 10.25 brakes. After some searchin on the web, the best I can find is this. 98-00 2WD Ranger 11.25" brake upgrade

Im hoping someone can verify that information. Or give me some other options for bigger brakes. The goal is more brake for towing capacity. The truck will have a 351c and a zfs542. Peak torque at 400 ftlbs or more and a 5.72 first gear. I wont be afraid to pull anything average joe does.

That's the best I have ever found and I'm on several Ranger sites (that one included). Get the best rotors and pads of course.

There seems to be a serious lack of new stock spindles at major parts stores. If there is another name to call a spindle, I have no idea what it is.
If there is no new replacements, someone has to have a pair floating around somewhere. Plenty of guys do lifts/long travels, with different spindles.

im told mustang rotors fit depending on year, havent had the time to search it though. so a big brake kit from them SHOULD work.

the only thing I have found is the 13" cobra conversion, but it is for upto 97 rangers. As for old mustang 2/pinto/bobcat rotors, the originals are too small radius. And I dont know if the old stuff is the same spindle taper as the old stuff. I have an old mustang 2 rotor and bearing set. Might have to try and see if it fits the spindle and look to see if the new 11" ones are same fitment.

01 Sport Trak 2wd and I think 03+ newer Ranger 2wd have 12" front rotors, torsion bars only, not the coil spring models.
I have a set of the 01 Sport Trak 2wd spindles. They use 12" rotors, and the same calipers as the 11.25 rotor/spindle. Slightly larger pads. The caliper anchor bracket holes for 12" are moved out 3/8" compared to 11.25". You cannot redrill the holes and make them fit.
The big problem is: the top ball joint stub hole is bigger by about 2mm on the 12" spindles compared to the 11.25 2wd spindles. (For an 11.25" 4x4 its the same.)
You can use an upper control arm for a 4x4, or 2wd torsion suspension, it will fit the top ball joint.
But, that uppercontrol arm is about 1/2" longer than a coil spring one.
The spindle itself is also slightly taller between the lower ball joint and spindle centerline, that will lower the truck.
Moral of the story:
if your IFS swap used the same dimensions as a 2000+ 4x4, or a 2003+ torsion bar 2wd, or an 01 Sport Trak, the 12" spindles will bolt right on.

if you used dimensions for a 2000+ coil spring IFS the upper control arm will be an issue.

I'm in Toledo, where in NW Ohio are you?
we may be able to compare the spindles.

While larger brakes will improve stopping ability, your towing capacity will still be limited by the load capacities of the rear axle and the rear springs.

True about towing capacity. However braking is a measure of towing capacity, you have to be able to stop what you get going.
