lowering my truck

i have a 99 f250 l/d 2wd and im looking to lower it, see i have a good friend that has a machine shop, and i was wondering if i can just modify the front leaf hanger so it drops the rear 4 inch's, would it still line up properly and would it hurt my rear end or drive shaft

The aftermarket sells hangers that will lower it two inches. You can get the extra two by purchasing a used set of springs from an Harley Davidson...or the aftermarket, if you budget allows. I don't think 4 inches is enough to cause drive shaft angle problems. You might have to purchase a shorter pair of shocks.

thanks

thanks but since i have access to a machine shop we can easiesly make our own pieces like factory just longer to get lower thats to much for aftermarket kits that only go 4" with shackle and leafs, my springs are perfect so thats not in the budget but a cam swap is

I have the opposite problem. My 1997 F150 Supercab 2wd shortbed is lowered 2" in the front by using shorter coil springs and 4" in the rear by using shorter spring hangers. See my post. I did have to use shims to align the driveshaft. You probably would have to do the same or you would get vibration problems. According to DJM as mentioned in one of the posts, the shorter front coil springs are the same for my truck and yours.

Would you interested in swapping your stock parts (front coil springs and front leaf spring hangers) for my lowered parts even steven? We could pay the freight charge to ship the parts to the other person. I don't know where you are but I am in Macon, GA.

I have a 99 f150 2wd and I purchased heavy duty f250ld coil springs to replace my 310K stock coils. Holding them side by side they are the same size. Different compression rate. They are interchangeable between the f150 and f250.
