89 ranger porportioning valve can it be cleaned

When you ask about the proportioning valve, are you referring to the part of the master cylinder or the device downstream of it that makes sure that brakes on both sides of you truck get the same brake fluid pressure?
Please give us more information about the valve and what problem you are having.
If the valve is part of the brake system, I recommend replacement rather than attempting a repair.

Well, if you're mechanically inclined I would suggest finding a new model b2500 or "new" old ranger and pulling the part yourself from a yard. You might have to pay them to lift the truck so you can pull the part, but it's well worth it in the long run over paying new prices for parts that don't go bad often.... Your local library might even have the Manuals for your truck...
