No speedo,abs light on

Hey everyone,I could use a little help here.
Today while on the way home from a 300 mile round trip my speedo quit,(the odometer still reads numbers but does not change),the abs light is on and the od light is flashing and it was shifting real hard. But it still went into od.

The trans was rebuilt about 40k ago and the fluid looks clean and full.I replaced the sensor in the rear with one from Carquest(they were the only place on the way home) and it is still acting up.

The only code that came up was po500.

Any other suggestions on where to go next????

Thanks,John

not sure about the code but the symptoms point to the Vehicle speed sensor. its mounted top side of the rear diff. check the wiring leading to it as well. if that looks good pull the sensor and clean it. if that still doesnt work it may be the tone ring on the gear inside the diff.

Go to Ford or international and get one. Same with all the other sensors when you have to replace them. Auto parts store ones are not so good.

Also check the fuse that feeds power to the speedo. I had the same thing happen to mine when I hooked up my gauges. I tapped into the fuse for my gauges and the back part that the fuse makes contact w/ came out the back of the fuse panel and the fuse wasn't making contact. OD blinking, shifting hard, and no speedo. My ODO didn't work though. I think it was the 18 fuse...top right under the drivers side dash.

I put the Ford sensor in and it is still the same...

Any other suggestions?

Could it be the ABS module behind the glovebox????
