How much weight can my truck really pull?

So I am looking at a new travel trailer. And I have heard conflicting information on how much my truck can actually pull.

Here is my truck info.

2004 F-250 Super Cab Super Duty. 5.4L 4x4

The trailer I am looking at has a dry of 5800lbs.

Thanks for the help.

Your towing guide:

You should be good for at least 7200 lbs.

Here's a link to the 2004 Towing Guide:

https://www.fleet.ford.com/showroom/...r_F250_350.pdf

A lot is dependent upon the axle ratio because there's a 1,500 difference between the 3.73 and 4.10.

I have the 3.73 ratio

So from reading the guide I am getting 7,100 lbs

It should pull it fine. Remember alot of the power is going to be made as the motor revs. It is ok to let it sing a bit.

Like Scott said it'll pull it no problem.
You may consider a couple upgrades to your truck to prepare it for the task?
I consider how often I'd tow and the terrain.

You'll be just fine. My dad's 30 footer weighs 7200 dry and 9300 loaded and I drag it around easily with my truck. Not gonna win any races, but she pulls strong.

dry weight is a meaningless number - go by gvwr which will be a lost closer to what you will be towing... and then it's still a guide until YOU load it up and spend $10 at a cat scale to find out the real weights...

we can't know how many pairs of shoes your wife has to bring along for 'roughing it'

also, you didn't state if yours is an
auto or manual,
crew cab, supercab, or regular cab and
does it have the stock tires on it ????
and ASSUMING it's an auto and supercab and tow behind and not a 5th wheel...

To really get it right, all that makes a difference in what you can actually pull !

gcwr and rear axle weight rating are important numbers too..

good luck !

bottom line we're giving you ballpark answers until all the parameters are known...
if you say 7100 then it must be an automatic supercab f-250 4x4 3.73 5.4L ....
