camshaft

35-512-8 - Xtreme Energy is the camshaft that comp cams recommended for me but its seems kinda steep what do you guys think? I'm looking for a towing cam

That cam is roughly equivalent to the stock '94 cam with 1.7 rockers so it's not that big really. What motor is it going in?

Its going on my stock 94 5.0 Efi. I just need a good towing torque cam

about how much torque were you thinking, if your thinking you want a low down diesel rpm powerband its really not the 302's nature

Then don't bother, add 1.7 rockers and longtube headers with a single 2.5" exhaust system for maximum gains, and seriously consider a gear change to 4.10s.

yes i would change to 4.10s first if you have a 302. couldnt agree more

Ok cool thanks guys. Any recommendations on a brand of rockers? I know the 5.0 is no torque beast, I just wanna get a little more oomph. I plan on getting 4.10 gears for sure. Would be super cool to get a posi trac or something too.

the gold colored ones seem to be pretty good. i think comp makes them

Good reports about Scorpion brand and you can't go wrong with Crane or Comp Cams either. Just in case you don't know these trucks use pedestal mount rockers so don't look at anything that requires studs.

I use the scorpion rollers , no complains here...
