1989 ford 460 runs like crap

Hi guys I am new here. im looking for some insight on the issue I have with my truck. I just got a 1989 ford f350 standard cam long box with a 460 in it. .it will fire up and idle just fine, but it hesitates when you give it throttle and it runs out of power and starts to spit and sputter at about 1500 rpm's. and it will barley drive at any speed other then idling in first gear.
I have put a new: fuel pressure regulator. IAC, MAP, and the throttle position sensor, new fuel filter and pump.

I have never had this much trouble with anything I have owned. it has me stumped. i have worked on it for about a week. .anybody have any ideas? any input is appreciated. thanks

Instead of just throwing parts at it, have you tried checking for codes?

I'm not sure how to check for codes? Can a shop do it? I didn't think the older rigs like this could hook up to a machine. .even if that were the case I don't have a machine and I couldn't even drive it to a shop to test it cause it will barely do 20 mph

It uses an OBD1 reader like this one EQUUS 3145 EQUUS INNOVA Ford OBD1 Code Reader Digital . The port to read it is under the hood. There are also some videos on youtube on how to do it without the tool but the tool is only $20

Or you could check for codes with a piece of wire: Fuel Injection Technical Library » How To Run a Self-Test

Ok cool thanks guys. .I figured out last night though when I pulled the dizzy out that the roll pin holding the gear on had broke and the gear must have just spun on the shaft
