Update on 5.4L plug replacement, no issues

I've read time and again of all the worries of replacing spark plugs on the 5.4 modular family. Mine (2004) changed out with zero problems so I'd encourage users to try it rather than pay a dealer IF:
1. you invest in the proper torque wrench; it's way too easy to over tighten the plugs.
2. spray a small bit of penetrating oil in the plug hole and let sit overnight prior to removing.
3. invest in a number of swivel sockets and miscellaneous tools to get to the plugs.

The most difficult plug is the passenger rear. I had to loosen (not remove) the fuel rail. Total wrench time, ~ 1.5 hours.

No worries

Nice work. I did mine 15000 miles ago and folllow similar steps.. I love the site for the advice but there was enough horror stories to make me reconsider and having a shop to it. All and all it was pretty easy, and I'd recommend it to others.

why did you have to remove the (loosen) the fuel rail on the passenger side? I use a deep socket and a six inch extension and never have to move anything on my 2004 5.4
