Hi guys

I want to know if anyone out there has made a work stand to help work on our trucks? Something that maybe supports your upper body, so to leave your hands free to work

I broke my back in 2 places when I fell 8 metres, that was 2004. Whenever I work on the engine around the turbo or valley, I end up with some back pain. I have recently got a different bullbar, so now it is not that easy to just stand on the bar and lean in.

My truck is standard height at the moment, but will be raised 50mm soon. So a frame would really help.

Ok, so I have started to make a stand for myself. The top platform will be 1600mm high, which will allow it to sit over the radiator all the way back to the firewall if I need to.
The dimensions for the platform are 1100mm x 700mm. This should be big enough for me to lie on it and hopefully do some work.
As usual, I have over engineered the frame, but at least it should last.
When I get approval to post attachments, I will add some pictures.

I will get some more photos tomorrow when I use it to remove my HPOP and replace the non serviceable plug. Stay tuned

So the workstand is 90% finished, I just ran out of time to finish covering the ends and give it abit of a paint on the welds, but for the most part, it is very useful.
If fact you end up using it for almost everything when you can easily stand on the ground and work normally.







It certaninly made removing the HPOP alot easier by being able to use both hands on the engine.

Tell you what, I wish the guys that serviced my truck used fender covers!

On the US bro's forum I saw a guy made one out of wood. He called it his 'top side creeper'.

Anyway, put on some hinges and locking pins and you're away, flat pack and at least 2 orders from here !

 

Well how is this for a suggestion. When Clay comes over again from the states, I will bring it down or up to the meeting so everyone can have a go.
I think it would pay for itself if I was changing out the injectors.

I am sure everyone who owns an F truck has a welder sitting somewhere, buy some steel and post your pics when you are finished.
Think as mine as the first evolution.
Or if anyone is up on the Sunshine Coast, come and visit.
