What difference does it make if you pay it now or later. You will still burn the same amount.

 

It doesn't and it allows you to tank fuel - i.e. fill up at cheaper stations and really take advantage. However, I still vividly remember the 90's and buying gas for under a buck, so seeing hundreds listed on the gas pump still makes me cringe. Having a 2 or even potentially a 3 handle makes it even more cringe worthy. Plus you'd have to do it in separate transactions as most limit you to somewhere around $100 give or take.

 

I can remember paying $0.14 per gallon. That was a long time ago and the guy came out and pumped the gas, wiped you windshields, and checked your oil.

Inflation adjusted the late 90's had the cheapest gas ever. 97 or 98 I was getting gas in NJ for $.749/gal.

 

correct me if im wrong but i entered the part number for the tank in rock auto and it says its for a 85-86 that being said lmc truck offers a 38 gallon extra capacity tank that comes with extensions for the sending unit and all the hardware needed for the hangers and straps. so since your truck was a 97 i believe would the one from lmc also fit the same truck since the lmc one says its only for up to 89

All of the 38 gallon tanks offered, regardless of model year they're listed for, are physically the same. There are slight differences in the filler neck area on the tank, such as the filler baffle I had to remove from mine that isn't needed on the 92-96 trucks.

The extensions for the sending unit that are included with all of the 38 gallon tanks are not compatible with the FDM (fuel delivery module) in the 92-96 trucks, which is why I modified my FDM hanger to work with the deeper tank.

 

the fuel delivery module is that the fuel pump cause mine is diesel i dont believe my fuel pump is in the tank i could be wrong

 

Yep, it's the pump, and wiring, inside a plastic container. No idea about diesels, I've never owned one or worked on one.

My '92 is a cab chassis with a utility bed. Does that mean this tank would not fit between the rails? Would a 35 Gal Bronco tank fit?

You may need to measure the bronco tank to make sure it will fit. It is narrower then the f26 tank though.
I kinda thought my c&c had a bigger rear tank than 20gal. I haven't filled it up for a long time so I can't remember.

 

Thanks for this right up! Something I will definitely consider doing to my centurion just don't know how I feel about losing the spare tire mounting under the truck.

 

Probably depends on how much room you have behind your axle.

Mine should be similar to a regular cab PU w/ an 8' bed. My utility bed is only 8' long.

My rear tank is definitely an 18 gal most likely as it is set up for dual tanks.
With larger tanks available in the the future I'd like to upgrade and I'd like to know what fits before buying a new tank first.
