Crossmember

There is what looks to be an aftermarket engine crossmember on my 60 f100. Can anyone tell me if this is aftermarket and what it may have been used for? Not the best picture in the world but you can see it after the front crossmember and before the trans crossmember



I stole this pic from transam525's build and he doesn't have the the same crossmember.

I'm not sure if you can get accurate info here without detailed pics. Have you given thought to snapping a few pics and taking them to your local pick&pull? You may be able to match up the mounts themselves to an engine still in a vehicle. Many people have done the ultimate in heresy and put a Chevy engine in these

Well right you are, that is not the correct cross member. The one in the second pic you posted certainly is though. Yours was more than likely installed to accomadate some engine other than the original as those obvious motor mounts reveal.
