F600 Transmission Problems
Hi Guys, I'm hoping you can help me with an issue with my F600. I think it's a '77, though I'm not positive. The VIN is F61EVB25607. The plate says Type: F611, Trans: A, Axle: F3L. I believe it's a 361 engine (though what version I'm not sure) and a NP435 4sp trans. I have lost reverse gear and am trying to figure out what to do. If I knew exactly what transmissions would bolt up directly, I could just look at pricing used transmissions. Or, possibly, how difficult of a job is it to replace reverse gear? To be honest, I'm not even positive as to the exact engine and tranny or manufacture year as there are no 11 digit VIN decoders that I can find. Any help you could give me would be very helpful! Thanks!

I found one note on a used box that said "after 1980", so I'm not sure when/if there were splits. If you find a decent trans man, he will match what you have.
I tried to search "medium truck transmissions seattle" and it requires a lot of straining through the hits, as you get all kinds of garbage before you actually find a shop that works with mediums.
I would do the search and let your fingers do the walking. Also, intro yourself here:

and ask for a reference. Good luck with it. Former WA resident BTW.
