Hey guys I was wondering if anyone over here can help me out. I'm looking for pics of a 38x12.5-16.5 mounted vs a 16/38.5-16.5. I'm trying to help a friend decide on width for purchasing. He has a plenty of clearence so its basically all about looks not even performance.

Do you know what size Coil Springs are under that Bronco, we are about to do a solid axle swap on an 86 F150, that's the stance I'm looking to get out of it.

 

38x12.5/15 on a 10" wide rim.

 

what's the intended use of the truck? personally i hate skinny tires unless it's a mud racer where it might benefit from pizza cutters. trail riding and playing in some mud and i'll take the wider option every time. more flotation and more side wall to flex and buldge if you air down tires. only reason i'd run skinnies is if i was limited by clearence.

and just for a simple tires for dummies answer: wider tire=more contact patch=more traction.

 

Wider tire also = harder to turn...

BTW back tires on that truck are 15/38.5x15's also on 10" rims

 

Thanks for the pics guys. I think for the height of his truck he's going to need a wider tire to look right.

 

Myself I like the wider tire as you can see in my avatar. The use of his truck is basically drive it and look good. I'll post a pic of it when I get home but its a 77 highboy that just had a complete resto...everything is new. It will most likely never see rain again let alone mud.

Here is the best side shot after the donor body and chassis were complete. You can see with the 31" tall tire its got plenty of room and makes me think the skinny will look funny.

 

As of a week or so ago before it was all out back together. I don't have any other pics for now but we need to get some tires ordered.

Well they are listed as 4" for a highboy or 6" for a lowboy.

just for looks=always go wider as well. not many trucks look "good" with pizza cutters....
