Changing to lighter oil

Changing to lighter oil
Heres my problem, having stictiom issues pretty bad. Its due for an oil change and now its got 15/40 delo in it. I had my ficm rolled back to the flash before the ficm killer one and the injectors dont like it. Im gonna try going lighter in the oil, any recommendations on the oil change?. Going to try this before i start changing injectors.

Does the ficm flash you have now include the inductive heating strategy? Ford put it in their latest flash (after the buzz flash) and it's in the Atlas tunes as well. It heats the shuttle valve at start-up ( and maybe while the glow plugs are on pre-start) and is supposed to help eliminate stiction. No idea what it would do with already varnished shuttle valves but it might help. On the oil, since you are concerned with the cold viscosity I would go with either 0-40 or 5-40 synthetic. Or a 0-30 if you can find one that is diesel rated, but the hot viscosity number won't really affect stiction.

The Post-Cycle "Buzz" Flash does not play nice with 15W40 and temps under 40 degrees.
Pretty much mandatory to run 5W40 or at least 10W30 if you're seeing anything under 40 degrees in the morning.
I actually like this particular FICM strategy, but it does take some getting used to with a couple of it's quirks.
And I believe after the Buzz flash was the "FICM Killer" and then after that is the latest FICM strategy. Both of those introduced the Induction-Heating, with the former using way too many amps (or something along those lines)
The "Buzz" flash (which International continued to use well after Ford abandoned in Feb 2007) would cycle the injector spool after every shut-down to help free it up, but the rest of the flash strategy just wasn't as well equipped for cold start.

Can you find a full synthetic 0w40 in a CI-4+ or CJ4 rating? Where are you, I am using co-op 0w40 and it's cheaper than anything I can find but I am in Canada. Also, in addition to the Hotshot, try using some diesel kleen in the grey bottle, double dose two tanks then single dose every tank for awhile. Check your FICM voltages? Batteries and alternator charging properly?

Its been steadily getting worse. It was in the thirties here when i first got it back in december, and it was bad then. I left it plugged in most of the time and it was fine. But unless i plug it in anything below 50* is brutal on start up. Once its up to 150 or so its fine. Im half tempted to have the ficm reflashed after i go to a lighter oil, before i buy injectors.
