new gauges
hello again everyone! i trust you guys on here more than anyone else when it comes to ideas. Im planning on replacing my entire gauge cluster eventually. But want to do something new. I found really nice gauges from glowshift. But, I dont know if I need the electrical or mechanical style. Its a 92 f150 with a 302 engine and E4OD trans with the tach in the cluster as well. What do you guys think? I think electrical, But havent been able to find a certain answer yet on here. Thanks for any help everyone!

You need to stick with the factory speedo as the trans and the RABS module need the signal from the PSOM. The other gauges can be replaced. Electric is easier, as it easier to run wires rather than the tubes needed for mechanical gauges. The fuel level might be an issue, as I don't know if an aftermarket gauge can use the factory senders...

The PSOM is the Programmable Speedometer Odometer Module, in the back of the speedo in the factory cluster. The RABS module is for the Rear Anti-lock Brakes System.
The PSOM get a speed signal from the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) in the rear axle, and the RABS needs signals from the PSOM to work. The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) needs signals from the PSOM to control the trans.
A 92 doesn't have provision for a cable driven speedo, so it'd be tough to replace the factory speedo...

Alright, because I came across a guy on here (im still waiting on a reply from him) who did an entire new dash. But heres my other idea. Could i leave all that stuff in, And just do an overlay. As in, have the cluster, But in front of the cluster have my gauges so i can have my new ones in on a board and splice into them?
