Strange Miss and then it's fine
So I've noticed lately that when I'm driving the truck, it'll miss everything now and then. Nothing appears to be the cause (speed, load, gear, etc). The only thing I've got is that I haven't noticed it at idle. But, it may not be strong enough at idle to notice.
It's like if you lifted your foot off the throttle and then slammed it back in, quickly. Just a loud bang and it's over. Then it's good for a while. Could possibly be diesel knock, but very intense and over very quickly.
My first thought was UVCH (especially since I broke one of the holding tabs the other week), but they seem tight and OHMed out correctly. I did put some zip ties on the one without the hold-down tab tonight to see if that helps. It could be momentarily loosing connection while driving.
My second thought is that I probably have a bad injector. I know I'm starting to see white smoke on start-up (occasionally) and I know I'm getting a little bit of air on the engine oil. I can see bubbles on the dipstick after a good hard run. I will try to run a bottle of diesel clean through and see if that helps. The injectors do have 145K on them. But, can a failing injector or injectors cause this kind of problem?
My third thought is maybe a crappy TPS. Has anyone experienced that kind of failure with one? I always thought they were all or nothing. Still, I could clean it and the IVS I guess.
Oil level is between the hashes (almost to full) and only has 3K on it. Now, if you read my other thread, you know I drained and put it back into the truck when I repaired my dipstick. Maybe I just need to change the oil? I've opened the HPOP reservoir a couple of times lately and it's always been up to the brim (even after the truck sits for a week).
Other thoughts? I'm kind of looking for direction here. Thanks guys.

Yes, it still does it with the CC set. Does that tell me something? I assume that CC bypasses the TPS?
No, but I will. That's an easy thing to check.
I will order one from Clay today.
Thanks for the responses. I will update when I check those things.
Also, forgot to mention in the first post, no CEL during the events.

Well...I just realized it takes me forever to complete simple tasks. Anyway for the sake of the thread:
I cleaned the FPR and found all kinds of junk in there. I'm wondering if my bad injector is causing that. I will have to monitor that.
I swapped the CPS with the one from Clay. I had the Ford black one in the truck. I started the truck and I have never seen a cold start that was that quick. I think it caught on like the third crank. Idle seemed smoother too.
I haven't driven it yet as it was already dark when I finished last night. Probably take her out today after work. The miss had gotten so bad, it was happening every couple of minutes, so at least I'll know if it's gone.

Well I drove it for about 40 miles yesterday. It didn't act up once. So I'm thinking that it's fixed. I guess it was something simple this time.
I hear ya, when I bought the truck it was a bad fuel pump. That was a job!
