Reprogramming Remotes

Hi Guys

Does anyone know how to reprogram our Australia F truck remotes. I have the US guide, and have tried it, but it doesn't seem to work on my F250.

My F250 is an XLT model with the factory Ford central locking and remote entry.

Thanks

It should be the same process.

If it isn't working, disconnect your vehicle battery for at least 5mins.
If found this post in the SuperDuty forum, and it seemed to address other peoples problems:

Finally, turn the key to the off position and your key fob(s) should be programed. The dealer was of no real help on this, unfortunately. I hope this helps some folks out! Good luck!

Thanks Adrian
Much appreciated. I will try it again.
My interior lights may have something to do with it as they only sometimes work, and this would then not tell the computer that the doors are open.
Hopefully a bit of perseverance will pay off. Stay tuned

When you say that your interior lights only sometimes work, does that mean they will only sometimes work in the "on" position? Or do they only sometimes work when you open the door? If its the latter, you probably just have some crap stuck on the switch in the door jamb, that stops the switch "opening" all the time. A cloth and some some degreaser should fix that.

The interior lights only work sometimes when the door is opened. When they do work, they often stay on even when the door is shut.
Are the lights meant to stay on after the door is shut or do they go off immediately?

To clean the switch, I apparently spray some wd40 up into the door latch. Is this correct?

Or is it better to remove the door panels to gain access to the switches, and to remove and thoroughly clean them.

It's part of the latch assembly in the door. Just spray lots of WD40 around there (or preferably electrical contact cleaner if you have it), and wipe all the gunk away and you should be fine. You may want to work the latches a few times as you do this to ensure they are moving correctly.

Shouldn't need to remove the latch.

Ok thanks Adrian. If my hand brake is not hooked up to the electrical wire, will this affect how the interior lights work. Having not owned an F250 with everything working, I am unsure of the relation between handbrake and interior lights.

Nope. That is an entirely different circuit. What part of your hand brake isn't hooked up?

Ok guys, so the wait is over. I have finally been able to enter the remote learning mode on my F250, so I can reprogram my remote.
It was not the normal method that most people used on their US trucks. For some reason, my F250 would not recognise the US method or sequence.

So I thought I would share the method for us aussies to use. The reason I wanted to do this was to reprogram my remote and 2 new ebay remotes.

Note to remember - When reprogramming any remotes, you must reprogram all of them as it wipes the memory when you enter the vehicle programming mode.

The sequence below worked on my aussie F250 XLT with factory central locking and remote entry.

1. Take off the grey plastic cover under the steering wheel to expose the steering shaft, foot pedals, fuse box, etc.
2. Find a small grey 2 pin DLC plug. Mine was next to my clutch pedal in the same group of wires with the OBD II plug. It has 2 wires, green with a purple trace and a black wire.

3. Use a hot wire to join them together
4. Turn your ignition on and wait approx 8 secs. The car horn will beep. You are now in the remote learning mode.
5. Press any button on the first remote. The horn will beep to indicate that it has been programmed.
6. Continue to press any button on remaining remotes to program them.
7. When finished, turn your ignition off and remove the jumper wire from the grey plug.

The drivers door must remain open when programming, and with the interior lights on.

So I was successfully able to reprogram my original Ford remote, but the aftermarket ebay remotes did not register with my vehicle.

So after all that, I now have to chase up some more remotes to try.

Thanks Kramer73! I had bought a new genuine fob and could not get the 'manual' method to work. Yours did! My mate is going to try his as well now. Looks like the Ozzy trucks have a different setup?
