I need vin# documentation for DMV problem

I have a '63 Uni long bed. The vin number is F10JK343704. It is on the door plate. It was suggested that someone has changed the doors but they are correct with the straight body line. Also the information on the plate corresponds to the vehicle for the rest.

The CA DMV has it listed as a 1966 Model Year.

I need some verifiable documentation that I can take to DMV and show that this truck is a 1963 and NOT a 1966.

I have searched all over the web and not found one site other than diggeytruck that shows this vin as a 1963.

Anyone have any ideas?

Vehicles are not registered by VIN's stamped on Warranty Plates, as they're too EZ to change. Vehicles registered by hidden frame VIN's.

F10 = F100 2WD

J = 223 1V I-6.

K = Kansas City MO Assembly Plant.

343704 = 1963, assembled October 1962.

1957/68 Ford Truck Parts Catalog - General Info Section - Page 17: October 1962 serial number range (see below): 340,000-349,999.

Leave it to the DMV to think that your Unibody could have been manufactured 3 model years after Ford stopped making 'em.

I suggest you check your frame vin to ensure it matches the vin on the title and door.

It is located right side, top of frame between the starter area and front shock. Closer to the front shock most likely.

It also should be located center of the battery box on top of the frame if the battery is under the cab. You can get a trace on alum. tape or use silly putty or clay.

Good luck. I hope the vins at least match, if not you need to discuss how to combine trucks with the DMV. Here in Okie land it is about a $300 tax under the disquise of a "fee".

I have a '63 F100 short unibody. The VIN # on the door is F10CN522398.
According to early messages, this would indicate an F100 with parts manufactured in November 1963, but where was it assembled?

The VIN was from the door, not the uni. Serial 522398 is for a 1964 F100 built at the Norfolk, VA assembly plant, in March of 1964. Try looking for the VIN on top of the right frame rail in the engine compartment about half way back. May take a wire brush to get the dirt off, it could also be fwd or back on the same rail.
