Powertrain Warranty Questions

I'm thinking about making the switch to the "dark side" of diesel from my 2011 6.2L F-250 CC Lariat. I've got a great deal lined up (though I haven't pulled the trigger yet), but one of the dealer's selling points is that they offer a LIFETIME powertrain warranty. I've read the warranty guide, but I'm not a lawyer and certainly not a diesel expert.

1) Where are the "holes" in the powertrain warranty, especially with regards to the engine? I think I've heard that the HPFP issue isn't covered, or is that only if it's blamed on bad gas? The salesman, of course, says "you'll never have to worry about the engine for the life of the vehicle..." Somehow, I'm not buying that...

2) Anyone have experience working with Ford on issues covered under the powertrain warranty? Any pushback from them?

3) What other supplemental warranties would you suggest? I've read Geico has one that covers "bad gas" (MBI?). Anything else recommended? I think I'm going to forego dealer offers and look for aftermarket insurance. I know there are several threads here that talk to that.

Thanks!

Matt

Is there any way you can post their lifetime warranty fine print on here? Lets see what it says.

My dealer offered a similar warranty as well. When reading the fine print, I noticed that the warranty was voided if, among other things, the truck was used for...wait for it...

Still looking for more specifics. It's tough on the iPhone. We are camping, and in the rush to leave I forgot my computer.

Personally, I would stick to the Ford ESP.
I don't work for Ford but to my best knowledge, that is the only Ford warranty that any domestic dealer will support.
If the unfortunate break down occurs, you may not be near your local dealership for repairs.

This is just funny! Clearly a warranty intended for cars and SUV's.
