are there a set of headers that I can get that will hook up to the stock exhaust or do I have to redo the exhaust when I put headers on? O ya its a 92 f 350 4x4 crew cab lb with a 351w in it. I was looking at the Flowtech Headers 12504FLT from Summit. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bi...rd/model/f-350

after doing a little research it might be best to do the exhaust anyway. the shorty headers are $393 and the long ones are $169. I was kicking around the idea of cutting off the stock exhaust and running duels back with a pair of glass packs in there. That shouldn't cost me more then the $224 difference. Which one are better? going with the short one with stock exhaust or the long ones with modified exhaust?

on summit racing i there are shorty headers for my truck for 180ish painted black.... And the stock exhaust that bolts on the the manifolds/headers is pretty restrictive so an upgrade wouldn't hurt and with it being a 4x4 and probably dual tanks it will almost be impossible to have a pipe on each side.

yup its got the duel tanks. Gotta run the pipes down the one side. Cheapest shorty headers I could find on there are $393. I was thinking about running both pipes down the one side with 2 glass packs in there then out the back in the stock location. It has dual pipes running off the manifolds to the cat then out of the cat as a single pipe to the muffler then out of muffler as dual pipes up over the axle and out the passenger side rear stock.

Do you need stainless steel? If you want to go with just cheaper plain painted steel, get the "summit racing brand" shorty headers. They just send you Pacesetters. I put some on my truck and they fit great. You will see no gains however if you don't do something with the rest of your exhaust. The Y pipe should get replaced with something less restrictive, whether it's an aftermarket Y pipe, or a home made deal. You'd also want to put on a highflow cat (or eliminate it if you don't have any kind of emissions check) and a better flowing muffler if you want.
This is the link to the headers I'm talking about

Here is a example of whats on it now.
This would be the y pipe in a sense comming off the manifolds
then to a cat like this one (2 in 1 out)
then into muffler something like this (1 in 2 out) but mine looks alittle diffrent (its not a flow master its stock)
Then 2 pipes out the back on the passenger side.

I'm just assuming you don't have any emissions checks or anything. You can just cut the line that goes to the cat and let it pump into the air. It won't hurt anything. Feel free to do whatever you want in the way of mufflers. Just be warned that with only glasspacks it will be ungodly loud.
