The X made me proud...
Heaviest tow to date:
My X spent the last week in New Hampshire at a friend's house; I am helping her move back to upstate New York. I told her about a dozen times about how the tongue can't be overloaded. I arrived and saw this:
We removed a generator from the nose, put it in the X, added 14 sand bags to the rear of the trailer, setup the WD kit, and inflated the airbags. Looks better:
But no scale anywhere close. I reluctantly agreed to go and get it weighed on the way, and unfortunately the first one I came across was in Albany.
Wow...closest I can tell there is nearly 2,000 lbs on the tongue. While that's about right for a 15,000+ lb trailer, it's double the capacity for the hitch. It towed great the whole way out here without any stability issues, but I was nervous the whole way. I have about 20 miles to go tomorrow before it gets parked and unloaded, with any luck I won't end up on the evening news.

take it slow and easy Tom, i'm sure you'll be fine! this coming from the speed demon on C rated tires so take it with a grain of salt

I don't plan on ever towing this heavy again with this truck. I'm comfortable with everything but the tongue weight, but that's not something I can upgrade. It'll be a Super Duty with a bigger hitch next time it's loaded this heavy.
Thanks Russ! Slow and easy was the name of the game; this time I set the cruise at 60 MPH and let it ride once I got to the interstate. Even at 6,000 lbs above rated GCWR I was able to cruise under 2,000 RPMs on the interstate for the majority of the time.
