Positioning the door glass in a '51 channel - (need guidance) I took some pictures
OK, I searched through 9 pages of related threads,
and the shop manual is useless for this task.....
I'm replacing the door glass in my '51 myself and only have one old side to use as a reference. My cab is at a body shop so I can't use that to check.
I can replicate the glass location in the lower channel in this one side (see picture) but I don't know how the OTHER side needs to go in cause my glass was missing on that side.
It seems I can flip the channel over in two different ways and don't want to set the glass in the wrong way.
Two questions for you guys who have done this before:
1) Will both sides be identical in placement of the lower channel? (Do I flip the channel over or leave the mounting tabs 'flat' on the table for the opposite side glass)
2) Is the relative location in the channel look correct in my 'old' glass? I want to make sure it is located as good as possible to allow a smooth tight fit in the vertical guides. My old glass shows the edge of the glass about 1" away on the 'rounded' side and 3/8" from the edge on the '90 degree' side. (see pictures)
I'm open to any suggestion or experience at this step. I'll be using setting tape to hold the glass in the channel and i know it won't move once I press the glass in. I'd rather do this only once.
As always, many thanks for your replies and support...

Thanks Scott,
I'll put one together like this for the passenger side.
Now if I put together a driver's side.....would the lower channel be laid down the same way (tabs flat on the table) and the glass have the 90 degree edge on the left side?
I'm at a disadvantage here because I took out this old window 2 years ago and don't remember which side it was on. And I don't have the other side glass...just the channel itself. Both channels are identical in shape so I have to proceed slowly here to prevent a typical "take it apart and do it again, Tom" situation.
