As you can see in my picture, I have the large mirrors that are mainly used for trailering and such. I am thinking of swaping to the standard mirror. I already measured and the bolts on each mount line up perfect. It appears I can easily swap them out. Do all agree? Or will I have problems? Other than being left with the two bolt holes on the lower part of the door? (which I will fill in). Thanks.
I made the conversion. I like the new mirrors much better. They installed perfect. I was nervous at first, as I had to take the door panel off in hopes to find that center bolt attachment for the new mirror...it was there! No drilling. As for the two holes in each door, I plugged with a stainless round top bolt, painted white. You can tell of course, but it doesn't look hideous. i'm happy...
Yeah, that's what I thought. Some said I should weld it closed, sand and paint, others said use bondo (yeah right). The bolt worked great, won't rust, plus I coated the threads and washer on the inside with grease. Done.
