v10 trannie running 20 degrees hotter than before

hey guys, I am new to this group and traveling full time in a 99 motorhome with a v10 Ford engine, and have limited access to the web. This question may have already been answered, but I do not have the resources to check it out. My question is, does anyone know what would cause the automatic transmission of my v10 engine to run 15 to 20 degrees hotter than normal? it runs approximately 20 degrees higher than normal whether on flat ground or running in the mountains. instead of 180 degrees to 210 degrees it is now running between 200 degrees and 225 degrees. I would appreciate any help, Stryder

How are you checking the temperature, and how much has the outside air temp changed?

If it's an aftermarket gauge, make sure your battery voltage hasn't changed a lot - as in over or undercharging.

Have you checked to see that your transmission cooler is not clogged up with trash or dirt between the cooler fins. Or you may want to check to make sure no transmission fluid lines have been crimped my hitting something in your travels.
Have you ever had the transmission filter or fluid changed? While no one likes to think changing the automatic transmission fluid is needed, stop and think about how hard your transmission works to keep that motorhome running down or up the road. Trust me a fluid, filter and flush is a whole bunch cheaper than a transmission rebuild.

I am using a scangauge which plugs directly into the obd2 reader. The outside temperatures are actually cooler now then when it was reading 180 degrees. The fins on the cooler do not appear to be plugged with bugs etc, but I will pressure wash it just in case. I will also check for crimped lines. Thank you all for your input.

Do NOT pressure wash it!!!!! That will fold the fins over like crumpled up foil wrap. Try to wash it from the back side forward with a garden hose.

as to the question regarding whether the torque converter is locking up as its supposed to, it is not shifting any different than it did before, therefore I can only assume that it is. And thank you about the suggestion not to use a pressure washer, unfortunately it is in front of the radiator therefore I cannot wash it from the back side. Thanks again.

What kind of a motor home are we speaking of, Class A or Class C?
