Speedo, Elec. Shift Control & Radio not working

so i get in my truck to go run an errand and notice it is shifting really hard. I then notice the speedo and odometer are not working. THEN I notice the radio is out as well.

I think to myself....a fuse? so the fuses get replaced since they are on two separate ones.

nothing.....all are still out.

any ideas?

Are the dome lights working? Check the #8 fuse.

If it weren't for the radio and odometer not working, I'd say to start diagnosing the PSOM and VSS, but it seems as though the issue isn't going to be anything to do with that.

Maybe there's a short somewhere that's blowing a fuse immediately after you replace it? Have you checked for voltage at the #8 and 18 fuses?

I had the same issue with my 95, and the dome lights were out as well. My problem was I had a short in the wiring to the sun visor courtesy lights, which are on the same circuit as the dome lights.

Correction: I couldnt get a read on the #10 fuse that controls "Instrument Illumination" I replaced it with a new one and still couldn't get a read on it.

had a friend suggest checking all the under dash ground wires but am unsure as to exactly where they might be.

Your not getting power from fuse #8.
Check both side of fuse with a test light.
