Need Wiring Help - Factory Trailer Brake Controller
I'm in need of some wiring help.
My truck in a 2004 and currently has a cheap old Tekonsha Voyager trailer brake controller, at least I think it is. Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional Tekonsha Brake Controller 39510
It's plugged into the factory harness under the dash. It works fine, just looks like crap. I always hated the way it was just screwed to the bottom of the dash.
When I re-did my dash - here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...lift-pics.html
I replaced the lower half of the dash with a 2006 panel. It has the upfitter switches and I also got the factory brake controller. I removed the Tekonsha with hopes getting the factory unit to work.
The Tekonsha only has four wires - red, white, blue, and black. The pig-tail wired to it has red, white, blue, green and brown. I assume the green and/or brown are connected to the black wire somewhere under the tape.
The factory 2006 controller has the red white blue and green wires. I'm assuming those will transfer straight over to the plug where the Tekonsha was plugged in. Simple enough right?
BUT......... The factory 2006 controller also has several other wires coming out of a separate plug on the back next to the red white blue green plug.
Does anyone have any idea how to go about wiring this thing up to make it functional? Or am I doomed to use an aftermarket controller? I'd really like to get the factory unit to work and install it in the dash next to the upfitter switches where it goes.

No, that controller has to be programmed to the trucks pcm. And on 05-up that did not have a factory tbc, you had to add a kit that also included a new brake master cylinder. 04 model year pcm are not compatible with factory tbc.

The engineer in me says there is an emergency mode. Something to keep the braking alive if the PCM communication fails.
You would perpetually be in error, but you would have trailer brakes. They would not be pressure proportional, however. They would likely be timed like most after market controllers are, but you would get the look you want.
