Looking for V10 manual transmission fluid change information

I want to change the transmission fluid on my 2006 F250 V10 with the manual transmission. In my mind it should be a simple thing to do, but I am not having any luck with a search of step my step directions and help. If it were an automatic there are links abound, but notta on the manual transmission.

I only have 69,000 miles on the truck, but don't see it going anywhere in the future....I plain like it too much.

Anyone lead to me a good source of information, or in a position to educate me?

There are two plugs in the manual trans. On the side of the trans is the fill plug. On the bottom is the drain plug.

Remove the FILL plug first. Then remove the drain plug. When it is done draining replace the drain plug.

Pump synthetic MERCON V in through the fill plug. When it starts to run out the fill plug the trans is full. Install the fill plug.

I bought a hand pump for less than $10 at my local auto parts store that works great for this.

That is kind of what I had in mind, but it sounded too easy. Would there be any benefit of going with the SP over the mercon?

The only benefit to using MERCON SP where MERCON or MERCON V is specified would be to the person that would have to rebuild the trans for you. MERCON SP will kill it.

Well, that would be a bad thing for my wallet....so no SP.

Now the manual calls for Mercon. Is there a difference between the Mercon and
Mercon V?

From what I have been able to research, it seems that the Mercon is more slippery than the Mercon V. And while my manual calls for MERCON, I am having trouble finding it.
So do I go with the V or is there another route to go.

OK, I think I have it now. Seems Ford/Motorcraft has done away with MERCON, and all applications that call for MERCON are now to be serviced with MERCON V. And that the MERCON SP and MERCON LV are not to be used in place of the MERCON or MERCON V fluids.

How did I do?
