Back in the saddle ....

I parked my '86 Eddie Bauer Bronco II in 99 when I bought a new Lariat F150 (one of many for the next 15 years.
She sat under a tree with a cover on for 13 years. I had a wild hair to get her back, pulled it out, put some new Goodyear Wranglers on her, put gas in it, changed a fuel pump, changed the oil and filter and fired her up and here she is. We are driving her every day and my wife and I are wondering why we gave up on her ....

I am going to have to bone back up on the EEC IV codes and theory, but it will be fun!

Anyway here are some pictures of her. I am still chasing a few sensor problems, but generally she is running great.

Kind of bummed by the lack of interior parts available for sale, but the interior is not that bad. We won't drive her much (a few thousand a year or so), but I know we may start having upholstery issues in time.

Anyway, hope it motivates some of you guys to pull them out.

My next one is a 77 F100 I bought new. I will frame off that one.

That looks great considering it sat for 13 years! Bet it brings back some old memories driving her again. When I started driving my new '88, after selling my first '88 11 years earlier, I felt like I had to re-learn a lot. The wiper/sprayer control took me a few minutes.

LOL, the biggest surprise is how great the little truck is. I remember it being agile and nice to drive. It still is and more!

BTW, I knew 13 years ago that I wanted to drive it again and never intended to let it sit as long as I did. Life got in the way and so it goes. At least it is running again!

It had a bad modulator as it was shifting high but solid shifts, so I know the clutches and hydraulics are good (I was a pro auto tranny mech back in the day , 80's) so we changed the mod, it has changed the shiftpoints, but it is still not quite right yet. Manual shifting L,2,D, OD works good, so the mechanicals are still good. I am suspecting the modulator circuit to be "sticky" or at least something in that hydraulic circuit. We'll see.

I personally have always like the A4LD. It is tempermental, but still a good application of hydraulic control automatics ... JMHO
