DPTuner Tow Tunes

DPTuner Tow Tunes
I installed my DP Tuner for the towing tunes and I am really happy with it. I tow about 11.500 lb toy hauler. I have 40HP and 60HP Tune Decel and 60HP Economy... But what I am trying to find out, what is the real difference between 20,40, 60 and 80HP tow tune? What is the Tuner doing or not doing in 20 HP tow vs. 80HP tow tune? I like the shifting in the new tunes especially for towing. Will the DP lock up the Torque Converter more often in tunes vs stock?

That is a question best answered by DP. They are the only one's who know the exact differences. But most of it relates to fuel and shift strategies.

I'm curious what you decide works best in terms of which horsepower tune to use with that load. I have not towed heavy yet with the F6, but when I had the edge juice, I would run it in a hot setting while towing so I could regulate EGT with the pedal, and avoid the leg strain of WOT operation.
With DP, I'm wondering if I can get away with that, or if the tune will deliver better shifting with full pedal travel - in other words - maybe it will not shift down as much/lug more if I am not using the last 1/4 to 1/8 of pedal travel.
I'll be trying 40T and 80T out in a couple of weeks with the camper - we'll see what it does.

You should be able to get away with the 60T with that weight, but really, you have to go and play with it and see what feels best to you. I tow my 9000lb TT with my 80E tune more often than not any more. Just watch the EGT's and the Tranny temp. If you are good there, all is well. Then its just which shift strategy you like best.

Caveat with 80E on our turf when compared with Maryland.

My fiver runs about 14k and I have been using the 60T except on the real hard grades. When I got down to FL I tried the 80E and watched the gage very close. Man it pulled like a freight train and even on some short grades my temp never went over 1000 deg. Would the 80T cut down on the EGT pullin steeper grades ? Little confused between the two ?
