Thinking of dumping my 6.4 for a 6.2

Hi guys, I am thinking of trading in my 08 6.4 with only 23k on it for a 6.2, but will a 6.2 be able to tow a 13-14,000 tag trailer maybe 8 times a year. What are your thoughts even if i ordered a truck with 4.30 gears. Thanks Matt

I just got a 2013 F350 DRW 2WD with the 6.2 gas engine and 4.30 gears - will be towing a 34' gooseneck horse trailer weighing approx. 13,000 - I traded a 2006 F250 2wd with the 6.0 PSD and 3.73 gears for this truck - only did a test run with the new truck and above trailer of approx. 20 miles after I got 1000 miles on the truck and I think the new truck pulls the trailer quicker than the 6.0 did - I know the mpg will be a lot less, but overall I expect the gas engine to be cheaper to own per mile and hopefully with less headaches. In the next few weeks, I will be going on a 750 mile trip with the trailer, so I'll have a better feel after that trip.

Thinking of doing the same myself, but I have a 2010. I tow 10,000 about 12X a year, plus a four-place quad trailer throughout the year. I think I'd go 4.30's, as well.

I'll be watching this thread close, too.

I just sold a 2003 supercab 4X4 6.0 and bought a 2012 crew 4X4. I miss the old truck, but don't regret the change, at least so far with 700 miles. The only thing I can see so far that could make me change my mind is if the fuel mileage turns out v10-like pulling light to medium loads. I expect some bad numbers at first, but hopefully it will improve.

I am at 1250 miles and my mpg improves a little each day. Pulled my 6000 TT and got 11mpg 100 miles round trip. Today I saw 17.3 mpg empty. I must of had a tail wind.
