A factory installed 460 in a 4x4 f250. Yeah right!
Also says this 1977 is smog exempt in California. I don't think so.

No , headlights and grill are correct , rectangle [square] headlights were in 79 , with a few in some models in 78. VIN tag looks legit but I believe it's fake , probably picked up on e-bay . Oh well somebody on the forum , Number Dummy ? , will know.

Interesting. I have a 78' with square headlights, I just assumed someone swapped them from a 79', is there any way to find out if it came factory fresh as a 78' with square headlights?

I think it may have been something to do with the trim package when it was purchased , Number Dummy will know. I'v owned five 79 pickups and one bronco ,but no 78s. All of mine had the rectangle head lights. Sometimes they may get swapped in by the owners but i thought the panel the buckets are bolted too were different for the rectangle headlights , I'm not sure though. I don't know if there is any way to know for sure which headlights came in them new.

Yup, this truck has been discussed here before. I contacted the original poster (don't know if it's the same guy) but he sent me a picture of the "factory data plate" that proves it's "factory" and proves it smog exempt......ain't gonna happen!
The "Bureau of Automotive Repair" is a California bureaucracy to check on compliance after a car/truck has had major repairs.
As anyone who lives in Cali knows, it's the year of the vehicle, not the engine that determines smog compliance. If it wasn't, we'd see more late model vehicles with pre-75 powertrains .
Here is a picture of the "plate" the previous (?) owner sent me.
This truck is nowhere near original, definitely NOT factory 460.
