Parts are all done and boxed up ready for the trip in the morning. I did not get any during shots as I had way to much to get done over the weekend in order to get them off this week. I am real happy with how it all turned out and should do a great job for patch panels. For the running board area I made both sides of the lower fender, running board leading edge, backing plate as well as the piece that bolts to the fender and running board to close off the gap under the cab.

Those fender patches have a lot more curve than it seems when on the truck. If I'd had an enthusiastic local try to just do it out of flat sheet, then weld them into the fenders, the flat patch would have pulled the rest of the fender out of whack, and my unobtainium (in Australia) fenders would have been throw away... Remember, in Australia we ONLY had BIG (F5+) trucks here, with flat trays and shorty running boards, so small opening F1 fenders just DO NOT exist!

NB - how much pressure am I under to get these things in and post beautiful finished painted pix?????

I won't be rushing anything on my truck, but these patches clear a long-term road block on my project, and their quality has pushed me to really raise the bar from where it was!!!

This is why I feel blessed to be able to commission a talented artisan like Kevin do do these for me...Thank you again!!!

Can you show how you formed the rolled edge along the curve for the fender to running board patch?

Thanks
Greg

1952 f1 fenders

Great job on the 1951 I am also in the beginning stages of a 1952 or should I say my sons 1952 he is 12yrs old and has an interest in fat fender fords he purchased a 1952 roller I told him with his help I would build it. My plans are mustang 2 upfront with the dana 44 in the rear I can weld but not as good as you do. I would be looking for some patch panels for the fenders not in a big hurry he can not drive until 16 her in upsate NY and I have plenty to do with frame an suspension work. Would that be something that you may be interested in I love the patch panels you have made for your truck my only other option would be to seam the upper and lowers together and make that patch panel as one that's something I can handle but the two piece ones I just do not have the tooling for I may just need the top, I have not torn them apart yet to see, bondo seam to be from the seam up.

Since you have a few years I would suggest you keep an eye out for better fenders as they are out there here in the states. These patches were made because this customer lives in the the land of F6's and larger trucks so F1 parts just don't exists .
