Shocks

My shocks need to be replaced on my 2001 f350 7.3 ltr.
What are the best brand name shocks out there I can start shopping for?

I'm really digging the adjustability of the Rancho RS9000XL I installed a few weeks ago. Definite noticeable improvement over the stockers, and there is a definite difference between the settings I run unloaded (4 up front, 3 in rear) and loaded (7 up front, 9 in rear). I will continue to try different setting combinations just to make sure I try them all, but that's one of the luxuries of them.

Bilstein 5100 series. You won't find a better shock out there in my opinion.

I had always intended to go with Bilstein, but there have recently been some quality issues mentioned here at FTE. It was enough to make me look elsewhere. I'm pleased with the route I took.

Bilstein and Rancho - good options. I went with Rancho for adjustability. I run 5 front / 1 rear when empty, and 7 front / 9 rear loaded, like Bob.

I wasn't aware of this.
I also need a set of shocks and have been considering the yellow-tubes. But maybe I'll look elsewhere...
I'm in the rust-belt, and I've heard the adjusters on the 9000's are prone to seizing.

I think it was mentioned you could lube that adjuster if you live in the rust belt.

I agree with a lot of the above. Bilstein has had a bad track record f performance and customer service as of late.

Also, the 9000s do sieze after a while. Even here in CA.

The Rancho 7000MTs are a great compromise from the 5000 and 9000. I was given as set to run and test. They have been great. They are a little on the stuff side, but that's the point of an off road shock.

I run a dual bilstein 5100 setup up front and single rear 5100s outback and I love them!!! I wouldn't change them for anything! Get in touch with cary towrey with ct performance
Ctperformanceinc@yahoo.com... He is an expert in excursion and super duty suspension setups!! I highly recommend him!!

Just run any quality shock and change them with every new set of tires. They all wear out fairly quickly it's just gradual so you don't notice until it gets bad. I have Procomps on one truck and Bilstiens on the other. I like the ride of the procomps better but it is much heavier than the other truck.

I couldn't be happier with my yellow Bilsteins. I've had them for about 4 years and it rides as well now as it did when I first got them.
