What size engine should i fit

Hi what size V8 should i fit into my ford f350 1957 i was told put in a 460 but i think this will be to big to heavy as the idea for me is to try and remove some weight from my truck by removing the twin rear wheeled axle and fit a 9inch rear axle. But would like a bit of power and a auto box thanks

what are you going to be using the truck for? work, play, towing, etc?

you can just about fit any motor into these trucks, depending on what you are trying to accomplish.

give us a bit more info on what you are expecting to do with the truck and how much work you want to do or are capable of doing with an engine swap.

I would say anything from a sizes S to XL, as long as it doesn't shrink. Be sure to dry on low heat.

From where will you be sourcing your engine? If from the U.S., well, Gary (GBSisson) will likely give you some good input when he sees this thread. He has had many different combos in his various trucks . Me, I keep things close to stock form.

If you will source your engine from "over there" we may not be able to make recommendations, as we probably won't be familiar with what is available to you. Gary will probably know something about putting a Mercedes diesel in it, though. Good luck with the project.
