New to FTE and new to big truck ownership!

New guy here! I have had a thing for the C-series trucks since I was a kid (garbage trucks, fire trucks) and I finally decided to get myself one! I am planning to make a car hauler out of it to haul my other toys and projects. Anyway, there is obviously a wealth of knowledge here so I joined to try and get a couple questions answered and hopefully be able to help other's in various places on this forum. First up I'm hoping someone (like NumberDummy) might be able to decifer my VIN and data plate a little for me.

The VIN is C60C9U35134 and most of the data plate is self explanitory except "color" S, "trans" K and "axle" 33. I realize things could have been change over the course of time but it's a place to start. My trans appears to be a clark and it has 5 speeds but no ID tag on it, so I don't know which one it is. The rear axle is a rockwell f104 with 6:20's according to it's tag. It has a 292 in it and has been running on propane since the early 80's atleast. Runs like a champ! anyway, thanks for any help you guys can offer!

A wealth of knowledge and quick too!

Man you are quick! I wish the parts guys I work with daily were like you! I wondered about that "S" in the paint code... This thing is caltrans/railroad orange! I can trace ownership back to the 80's and it spent almost all it's life in the Spokane,WA/ Couer d' Alene, ID area so I am thinking it was probably an old railroad truck. It appears to be a base model truck, nothing fancy about it which was typical of the rail road as well. If it was ordered a "special" color would you expect a DSO number on the tag? Or not really? Thanks again!
